MEET AFRICA'S YOUNGEST REGISTRAR

After writing the Joint Admission Matriculation Board Examination (JAMB) five (5) times, Olumiyiwa Oludayo eventually climbed the ladder of success to become the youngest registrar in Africa at age 32.

Though a banker prior to his entering the education/teaching industry. According to him, God's plan was more pertinent than his personal ambition.

FROM NEEDLE AND THREAD TO ONE OF THE RICHEST BLACK WOMAN (French Translation Below)

She traveled to the United Kingdom to begin a four-year primary education at Dinorben School for Girls in Llangernyw, Wales (She and her sister were reportedly the only two of her father's 52 children sent abroad to study). After returning to Nigeria, she attended Muslim High School Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria. After which, she returned abroad for her secretarial studies at Pitman's Central College, London. She also studied fashion design at the American College, London and the Central School of Fashion.


Later started her career in 1974 as an executive secretary at Sijuade Enterprises, Lagos, Nigeria. Then moved on to the former First National Bank of Chicago, now ‘FinBank’ - acquired by FCMB (First City Monument Bank). She left FinBank to establish a tailoring company called SUPREME STITCHES. With clients such as former first lady Maryam Babandiga, her company soon became a household name among Nigeria's high society.


Folorunsho Alakija applied for the allocation of an oil prospecting license (OPL) in 1993. The license to explore for oil on a 617,000-acre block—now referred to as OPL 216—was granted to Alakija's company, Famfa Limited by the Ministry of Energy. The block is located offshore of Nigeria in the Agbami Field of the central Niger Delta.


In September 1996, she entered into a joint venture agreement with Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of TEXACO) and appointed the company as a technical adviser for the exploration of the license, transferring 40 percent of her 100 percent stake to Star Deep. Subsequently, Star Deep sold off 8 percent of its stake in OPL 216 to PETROBRAS, a Brazilian company.

While her husband is the chairman of Famfa limited, she remains the executive vice-chairman. She is also into real estate, printing and founder of the ROSE OF SHARON FOUNDATION, a Christian-based charity which gives out small grants to widows.
Folorunsho Alakija recently got herself a Bombardier Global Express 6000 for $46 million.

As of 2014, she is listed as the 96th most powerful woman in the world and second richest black woman by Forbes.

Her son Rotimi is the popularly known DJ Xclusive - British-Nigerian DJ, producer and artist.

NIGERIAN - AMERICAN OLUROTIMI AKINOSHO GETS SIGNED TO G-UNIT RECORDS IN THE US

Olurotimi Akinosho, better known by his stage name, Rotimi, is a Nigeria – American singer songwriter, actor and model. The founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FrontRoSeat Productions was born in Maplewood, New Jersey, to Nigerian parents and attended Columbia High School. He continued his studies at Northwestern University and graduated with a Communications minor in Business.

Rotimi’s acting career started with the series Boss (2011) and he acted as a drug dealer with the name Darius Morrison. He later appeared on the CBS pilot episode, “Cooper & Stone” (2011) and in three reoccurring episodes of ABC’s Betrayal (2013).

His film debut was Black Nativity (2013). Following this, he started in Imperial Dreams (2014) which won the “Best of NEXT” award. Due to the high growth generated, I consider Divergent (2014) as his most successful.

Recently, he was added to the cast of Starz TV series Power as a series regular, in the role of “Dre”, the quick-tempered young protégé of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s character. His recent cast is on Battle Creek (2015).
